Kerry has over 15 years’ experience working in nutrition, specifically understanding micronutrient physiology and the measurement of micronutrient status, in particular for vitamin D and vitamin B1. He has experience in the measurement of nutritional biomarkers in a range of studies, from metabolic investigations using stable isotope labelled vitamins, through to clinical trials and national surveys, both in the UK and internationally, including in LMICs.
Based in the Nutritional Biomarker Laboratory (NBL) of the MRC Epidemiology Unit, the lab focuses on the application of methods for nutritional biomarker analysis using state-of-the-art analytical technology to develop new methods as well as maintaining gold-standard methods to measure specific nutritional biomarkers. The NBL is responsible for the analytical work of the UK National Diet and Nutrition Survey.
