My research interests relate to preventative medicine and the effects of lifestyle on health. My main focus has been studying the effects of meditation on mental health. This has been the theme of my PhD at Cardiff University and I am currently leading the evaluation of a pilot scheme to provide mindfulness courses to students at the University of Cambridge. I am also interested in how Public Health can make the best use of available computer learning and web-based technologies. Although I qualified as a medical doctor, I am now a full-time researcher. I have conducted randomised trials and systematic reviews in public and mental health, worked on economic evaluations, and analysed data from large population-based cohorts.
