Cambridge Public Health

My main research interests relate to understanding and improving the pathway to diagnosis and the management of risk in primary care from the perspective of both the patient and clinician. My recent work focused on the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in children and improving the evidence base on which to develop an intervention to improve the timely diagnosis of the disease in children. I am now involved in a number of research studies and trials looking at the development, validation and implementation of risk scores in Primary Care. This includes systematic reviews of risk models for cancer and cardiovascular disease, the Information and Risk Modification (INFORM) trial, the MelaTools programme, the Evaluation of a Computer Aid for assessing Stomach Symptoms (ECASS) study and a Cancer Research UK funded project developing personalised cancer risk information to promote behaviour change.
