I am interested in identifying better ways of screening low risk women to identify those at high risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes related to abnormal placentation (fetal growth restriction, stillbirth, placental abruption and pre-eclampsia). The main focus of current work is a prospective cohort study of ~4,500 first pregnancies involving serial antenatal ultrasonography and blood sampling. Placental samples have also been obtained from the same cohort to study disease mechanism and to identify candidate biomarkers. I also work on secondary analysis of research, clinical and administrative data, including extensive use of node linkage.
