Our team is interested in the design and re-design of low energy, low carbon non-domestic buildings of all functional and constructional types, in various climates. The multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional team includes architects, physicists, applied mathematicians, engineers, social scientists and an architectural historian. We have developed a very particular interest in hospital buildings in the broadest sense . They provide an excellent vehicle for investigating the genus of the non-domestic building because the internal environments are yet more critical in that they serve more vulnerable occupants. The DeDeRHECC project investigates the performance of hospitals in hot summer conditions and their future resilience to the effects of a changing climate.
