Cambridge Public Health

My research uses a socio-legal approach to examine how people with intellectual disabilities are supported to make decisions about contraception. I am particularly interested in how such decisions are made in the ‘best interests’ of people considered to lack capacity under the Mental Capacity Act (England and Wales) 2005, and how this aligns with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. My broader academic interests include psychiatric ethics, mental health and capacity law, and gender studies.
