Jonathan Heeney heads the Laboratory of Viral Zoonotics. We follow viruses wherever they go. Our main interests are in the transmission of viruses between hosts (of the same or different species). We are particularly focused on cross species transmission of viruses in immune predisposed individuals, and the co-evolution of viruses and their hosts including the evolution of immune mechanisms of immunopathology or asymptomatic carrier states.
