About
Cambridge Public Health is pleased to support Imbricated Approaches: interdisciplinary methods for researching healthcare in conflict, a one-day conference organised by the CRASSH Healthcare in Conflict Research Network.
Healthcare delivery in armed conflict is under increasing strain and is increasingly recognised as central to national and international preparedness. It intersects with all aspects of health systems, including clinical care, infrastructure, governance, data, public trust and legal accountability, yet remains insufficiently integrated into mainstream research, policy and planning.
This conference will bring together perspectives from health, law, policy, defence and media to explore the conceptual, practical and methodological challenges of researching healthcare in conflict settings. The programme will include keynote addresses, panel showcases and breakout sessions, offering space for interdisciplinary discussion on how these challenges should be studied and addressed.
Speakers include:
- Professor Stuart Hogarth, Deputy Director of the Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (CRASSH)
- Dr Khalid Hassine, Legal Officer, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
- Dr Christos Christou, Outgoing International President of Médecins Sans Frontières
- Professor Grant Stentiford, Chief Scientist, Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas)
- Professor Gordon Harold, Co-director of Cambridge Public Health, University of Cambridge
